College Football Preview: BIG 10 East

Last but certainly not least, we’re breaking down the BIG 10.

BIG 10 East

Current Odds: Ohio State -105

Ohio State is without Meyer for the first three games. I still think the Buckeyes have too much talent for the rest of the Big 10 East. This is perhaps the most competitive division in college football. Michigan State ranks 1st in returning player production in Bill Connelly’s formula and Michigan’s defense will be stout. Penn State will be good also, but I think not having Saquon Barkley will really hurt them. So Ohio State emerges out of the East with possibly two losses but I could go Michigan State also. The East winner with two losses will be statistically comparable to champions of other conferences due to the schedule strength.

BIG 10 West

Current Odds: Wisconsin -228

Badgers! The OL is back and will be really good. The QB and RB positions are back and wiser with more confidence. Receivers have been added to stretch the field, but they may not make it onto the field due to suspensions. Wisconsin’s offense should be formidable with even average receivers. What about their defense? They lost seven starters and have a poor ranking in returning production. The linebackers are solid and we assume the line will be rebuilt, but the secondary has holes right now.

BIG 10 Playoff Team: Either Michigan State/Ohio State or Wisconsin
